Time: 10am-12pm
Description:
Pakatan Harapan has lead in introducing reforms in government. One such reform which has caught the public eye is the Freedom of Information Enactment. Malaysians are more familiar with the Official Secrets Act than the idea of a government which is open with its data and information. But what does a Freedom of Information Enactment, at the state level, mean to the man on the street?
This forum aims to discuss the Penang Freedom of Information Enactment 2010 from the perspective of its implementation, challenges as well as proposals towards improvement. As context and for comparison, the panelists will also discuss the Selangor Freedom of Information Enactment as well as practices at the federal government level.
