About Read Japan Day
Penang Institute is honoured to be a recipient of the Read Japan Project 2025, an international book donation initiative administered by The Tokyo Foundation with financial support from The Nippon Foundation, in collaboration with the Consulate-General of Japan in Penang.
Through this initiative, Penang Institute has received a collection of English-language titles spanning history, literature, arts, society, culture, politics, international relations, economics, and business.
In conjunction with this acquisition, Penang Institute is launching Read Japan Day, a monthly open day that offers the public free access to the collection. Each session will spotlight different themes and provide an opportunity to explore Japan through books and reading.
The inaugural edition will feature manga, literature, and the arts. Members of the public are warmly invited to browse the collection, discover new perspectives on Japan, and enjoy a day of reading in a welcoming environment.
