Penang Institute is pleased to host FOR OUR STATE, a contemporary photography exhibition featuring seven photographer-artists whose works explore the cultural heritage, communities and everyday life that have shaped and continue to define Penang. Through diverse perspectives, the exhibition reflects on the people, places, memories and traditions that make up the state’s distinctive identity.

FOR OUR STATE runs from 12–27 September 2026 at Penang Institute, 10 Jalan Brown, 10350 George Town, Penang. The exhibition is open to visitors Monday–Thursday, 8.30am–5.00pm, and Friday, 8.30am–4.00pm.

The exhibition was officially launched on Sunday, 13 September 2026, by Lee Khai, Chairman of the Penang State Art Gallery. The launch brought together artists, guests and members of the public to mark the opening of the exhibition and celebrate the diverse perspectives on Penang presented through the works.

Held under the auspices of ArtVoice Gallery and curated by Stephen Menon, FOR OUR STATE offers a contemporary look at Penang’s heritage, communities and evolving identity.

The official launch of FOR OUR STATE was held on Sunday, 13 September 2026 at Penang Institute and officiated by Lee Khai, Chairman of the Penang State Art Gallery.

The launch brought together the participating photographer-artists, guests and members of the public to mark the opening of the exhibition. Featuring works by seven photographer-artists, FOR OUR STATE explores Penang’s cultural heritage, communities and everyday life through diverse perspectives on the people, places, memories and traditions that continue to shape the state’s identity.
