About the Book
The book discusses key decisions of Justice Hishamudin Yunus, a retired Malaysian Court of Appeal Judge, who holds strongly to the principles of judicial independence. His commitment to judicial independence stems from his appreciation for an effective check and balance mechanism to ensure that the Executive and the Legislature act within their constitutional limits.
Justice Hishamudin regards law as an embodiment of justice, and his landmark decisions, which includes more than 700 judgements during his 23 years on the bench, gave life to many provisions in relation to fundamental rights in the Federal Constitution of Malaysia. As an impartial judge, he ruled without fear or favour, always being true to his judicial oath to uphold the law and the Federal Constitution.

About the Speaker
Dato’ Seri Mohd Hishamudin Yunus is a retired Judge of the Court of Appeal, Malaysia. Upon reading law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, he began his career in the Malaysian Judicial and Legal Service in 1973 as a Magistrate in Kuala Lumpur. He went on to serve in other capacities, including as President of the Sessions Court, Deputy Public Prosecutor, State Legal Advisor for the state of Selangor, Deputy Parliamentary Draftsman and Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court. Presently, Justice Hishamudin is a Consultant with the law firm Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership with offices in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
