About the Speaker
Prof. Johan Galtung has been one of the world’s leading thinkers on a number of key themes of contemporary global politics since the 1960s – above all on peace education and conflict resolution. In 1993, he founded TRANSCEND, a network for Peace and Development, which is now running Transcend Peace University. And in 1987 he was given The Right Livelihood Award (the Alternative Nobel Prize) “for his systematic and multidisciplinary study of the conditions which can lead to peace”.
