Penang Institute and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies – GIGA, jointly held a session and panel discussion titled Digital Media and Youth Participation in Malaysia.
Featuring speakers from Higher Education Malaysia Association, Penang Youth Development Corporation, International Republican Institute and Merdeka Centre, the speakers spoke on political education and the culture of democracy, youth empowerment as well as the role of traditional and digital media in youth political participation.
In light of the impending general elections and the first-time voters aged 18 to 21, the importance of the youth vote and youth political education is often highlighted by both the speakers and the participants, resulting in a very fruitful discussion.
