These are the full proceedings from Bel Retiro Roundtable 2023, held on 14 November 2023, and hosted by Governor of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak. The discussions covered three broad subjects:
1. Economic Evolution;
2. The Environment and the City, and;
3. Social Development.
Then-Deputy Finance Minister YB Steven Sim provided the keynote speech for this inaugural event. The participants included Chairman of the George Town Institute of Open and Advanced Studies, Tan Sri Andrew Sheng, former CEO of Digital Penang Tony Yeoh, state assemblyman for Bukit Tengah, YB Gooi Hsiao Leung, Marine Environment Hon. Professor Dato’ Dr Zulfigar Yasin, Chairman of the Pacific Tiger Group as well as The Habitat, Dato’ Seri Harry Cockrell, Penang Hill Corporation General Manager Dato’ Cheok Lay Leng, prominent lawyer Lee Khai, and owner of Bon Ton Langkawi and ChinaHouse, Penang, Narelle McMurtrie.
Penang Institute will organise Bel Retiro 2024 in November this year.
