Launching of the Code of Conduct for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities through the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Penang Institute, Pusat KOMAS and the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) came together and formulated The Code of Conduct for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities through the Elimination of Racial Discrimination which was formally launched by YB Prof. Ramasamy, Penang’s Deputy Chief Minister 2 on 10th February, 2020.

The Code of Conduct functions as a regulatory document and a guide to promote inclusivity and equal opportunities in employment practices and in the workplace. The prevention of discriminatory practices at the workplace will ensure that the rights of individuals are preserved. Employment practices that are stable and equal contribute greatly towards a culture where all parties are treated equally, and with dignity.

The Code of Conduct is supported by the State Government of Penang, and it is hoped that the Code will be adopted by the GLCs as well as other companies in the private sector, for the purpose of creating a harmonious, inclusive and engaged workplace that transcends race and religion.
