Signing of MoU between Penang Institute and MMU

Earlier this month, Penang Institute (PI) and Multimedia University (MMU) virtually signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to signify a research collaboration between the two parties on a project titled “Developing Digital Economy, Automation Models, and Mapping of Heritage Street Foods Beyond the Heritage City Enclave”.

The timing of this collaboration between MMU and PI could not be better. Earlier this year, the Penang State Government, under advice from PI, founded Digital Penang, a body that is to coordinate and plan the digitalisation process in the state for the next decade. It will look into e-governance, digital infrastructure, the digital economy and digital literacy.

Dato’ Dr Ooi Kee Beng, the Executive Director of PI signed on behalf of Penang Institute, while on MMU’s behalf, it was Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd. Su’ud, President and CEO of MMU. Bearing witness to the signatories were Ms. Ong Wooi Leng, Head of Socioeconomics and Statistics Programme, PI and Prof. Ir. Dr Hairul Azhar Bin Abdul Rashid, Vice President of Research and Innovation, MMU.
