On 29 November 2022, Penang Institute met up with the Asia Pacific Foundation (APF) of Canada team at Pacific Coffee, First Avenue Mall, Penang. We shared the research focus of our organisation and discussed the challenges faced by women MSMEs in Malaysia. We also discussed the potential collaboration opportunities in Phase Two of APEC – Canada Growing Business Partnership spanning from 2022-2026, which will focus on policy leadership, capacity building and knowledge sharing.
Penang Institute was represented by Ms Ong Wooi Leng (Socioeconomics and Statistics Programme) and Dr Beh May Ting (Coordinator & Senior Analyst, History & Regional Programme), while the delegates from the APF Canada were Ms Stephanie Perrin (Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist), Mr Justin Kwan (Senior Program Manager) and Ms Phebe M. Ferrer (Senior Research Specialist).
