German Dual Vocational Training Programme

The State Government of Penang supports the German Dual Vocational Training Programme with a RM2 million scholarship. The programme is driven by Penang's industry and aims to up-skill the state's workforce with international recognized vocational training.

The dual vocational training scheme is highly recognized in Germany. With this programme, the State Government wants to promote work-based training in Penang, based on German standards.

The dual concept of vocational training means that cooperation between the two learning venues - industry and vocational school - plays a key role in this programme. While apprentices are hired by their host company as permanent staff, theoretical training is conducted by the Penang Skills and Development Centre (PSDC) on the weekends.

With Mechatronics being the first GDVT programme in Penang, the state envisage that more programmes will be introduced to support the growth of the local industry.
