Penang Institute, the public policy think tank of the Penang state government, is proud to host a public forum entitled ‘The 2016 Budget and Economic Outlook’.

Date: 28 November 2015 -Saturday
Time: 9am – 12pm (Registration at 8.30am)
Venue: Level 9, Wembley 7, St Giles Wembley Hotel, Penang

The Malaysian Federal Budget is an annual framework of strategic measures, which is aimed at improving quality of life of Malaysians and sustaining economic development at large. The 2016 Budget was announced on 23rd October 2015. It described programs/policies meant to alleviate economic welfare of its people. Nevertheless, with the depreciation of Ringgit, the outlook for 2016 seems challenging.

Since the announcement and approval of the Malaysian Federal Budget 2016, many questions had been raised. Among the questions raised include: –

  • How would the business community and households benefit (or not) from the 2016 Malaysian Budget?
  • Does this budget address current socio-economic issues in Malaysia, and if it does not, what are the alternative solutions?
  • Would Malaysia face a better 2016?

Come join us for a discussion on the impact of the 2016 Budget on Malaysia’s and Penang’s economy. Let us discuss on developments that might affect Penang’s and Malaysia’s business environment and investment climate; and perhaps the forum could serve as a platform for business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors with an economic outlook of Malaysia and Penang in particular as well as its future challenges and opportunities in 2016.
