"Tell me a fact and I'll learn. Tell me a truth and I'll believe. But tell me a story and it will live in my heart forever." ~ An Indian Proverb

Let's be animated and mesmerised with the power of storytelling as 2nd Penang International Kids Storytelling Festival (PINKS) returns to PENANG bringing the world's best storytellers from UK, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, India, Indonesia, France, Australia, Malaysia and many more countries to share through their stories on the love of our earth, culture and our people.

This time around, it comes with a difference as it celebrates World Children's Day with an attempt to set a record in the Malaysia Books of Records with a Non-Stop Nursery Rhymes and Poetry Recitation for 10-hours by children aged between four (4) and 12 years old.

This storytelling festival has now become an annual event featuring local, national, regional and/or internationally known oral storytellers due to last year's remarkable success. The featured storytellers come with different backgrounds be it professional performing artists, semi-professional or amateur storytellers and also children.

The festival aims to promote literacy, creativity and intellectual development; to promote better understanding among people of different cultures through the sharing of their stories; to provide an opportunity for the entire family to participate in an educational and fun activity; and to promote the fading art of storytelling and also raise the standard of storytelling in Malaysia.

This remarkable opportunity would provide for a cultural exchange platform and strengthen education as well as preserve and rejuvenate the world's fading cultures of storytelling. The storytelling will be mainly in English, with some storytellers narrating in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Tamil, French and other languages as well. In addition to these, many other fun-filled activities will also take place.

The festival is open to all walks of life, especially children and is free. This is not a competition.

The festival is specially brought to you by Preschool Education Committee under the purview of Penang Education Council (PEC). PEC is an advisory council set up by the State Government of Penang to develop and promote Penang as a preferred regional and international centre for learning and education.
